We arrived in Cape Town this morning around 10.30am and were greeted with the too-familiar sight of rain – it almost felt as if we’d been flying around Irish airspace for 12 hours and then stepped off the plane onto Irish soil. Thankfully that wasn’t the case and even better than that, the sun came out in the afternoon and it was wall-to-wall sunshine. In the taxi from the airport we had a good view of Table Mountain and the taxi driver told us it was a sign of good weather - when it’s going to rain the mountain gets submerged in mist. I’m loving being able to get into shorts & t-shirt mode! (Debs)
We also went to an aquaruim which paul told us about. I’m telling ya Portstewart hasnt got nothing on it. There was penguins, turtles, frogs and sharks in the same place - now thats just odd. We then went for a dander around the waterfront area and got lunch - we got wraps in tinfoil which were great. (Nathan)
After a long flight we got to our hotel and then went to the aquarium, which was pretty cool. I think for me the best part was the penguins, they were so cute! Looking forward to tomorrow and working with bush Radio. Hopefully theres no rain!! (Una)
Well now... after a number of attempts of people trying to kill me with their wheely suit cases, standing on the backs of my shoes to trip me up etc. I made it onto the plane set for South Africa ☺
The flight started out well with Ice Age 3 being shown, but shortly after it was snooze time, unfortunately after my snooze I noticed I was missing the main ingredient to my comfort, MY PILLOW! Grr… after searching under my seat, the corridor, behind my back etc; I noticed something familiar in the corner of my eye… MY PILLOW! ! ! It was comfortably placed behind the head of a woman across from me. She certainly slept well with her… 2 blankets, 4 pillows (1 of which was MINE), and Silk eye mask. Well, I couldn’t have ranted enough to poor Una sitting next to me. Eventually an hour before landing the woman awoke and I asked ‘Is that my pillow?’, I have never seen someone look so defensive, like I did something to her… she stole MY pillow! Gi’s Louise? ☺ - You’ll be happy to hear I got it back!
Anywho… Arrived in Cape Town Beautiful city, with the view of Table Mountain everywhere we go. Did I mention the weather is splendid? – Began slightly shady but by lunch time I was sitting eating a frozen chocolate yoghurt with Astros (remember them beautiful sweets? - made by Cadburys ☺), melting at a speedy rate. Tomorrow is another day to be filled with fun and mystery and may the real work commence in Bush Radio!
Yours truly,
Caoimhe x
